Colin Farrell fought hard to make The Penguin smoke in Batman (2022), but to no avail
Line of Events
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, makes a play to seize the reins of Gotham’s crime world. Except for the bat sign in the last shot of the season finale, we never got a Robert Pattinson cameo in “The Penguin.” In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman?.
The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley
However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional smoker, preferring to smoke cigars. An umbrella falls and the emblem changes to the Warner Bros logo.
Starring Graham Norton i gosti: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024)
A direct sequel to the first episode, Matt Reeves' Batman and I think those who haven’t seen the latter are a little lost. But I watched The Batman a while back and this series did a wonderful job of quickly picking up where the movie left off without diving into a didactic recap.
The character may have nothing to do with the comic book version, but it’s interesting in its own right
It also captures the film’s aesthetic and grim tone nicely, although the show has many more sly lighthearted moments than the film. As in The Batman, Colin Farrell does an excellent job of portraying the Penguin as a stereotypical mobster "guy on the street:" impolite, profane, mercurial and violent; but also competent, cunning and literate people.
But it’s off to a great start so far
I have my doubts about giving The Penguin a teenage companion; and I don’t know if Penguin’s shenanigans will be enough to sustain an entire season.
